My Magazine Planning (Production Schedule):

I have filled in a table with dates and time of when and where I will be taking pictures of my models. It also includes where in the magazine each model will be featured.

 My Magazine Planning (Props):

Im not entirely sure what props i am going to be using in the pictures but i have asked my models to bring sunglasses and hat etc.

My Magazine Planning (Make-Up):

Again each of my models in my pictures are going to have different make-up all according to what suits them and their outfit. Just like for hair and jewellery I have found various make-up styles that I am considering using. I have found a mixture of images, mainly of lipstick and eye make-up.

My Magazine Planning (Hairstyles):

I dont know for definite what hairstyles my models are going to have yet but when we get together I am going to try a few out and see what hairstyle suits the model and the outfit best. I have found a few that I think will be interesting and look good. I have got various images of different hairstyles; some up, some down and some with accessories. Each of my models hair is going to be different so throughout my magazine pages there will be a mixture of styles. Most of the styles I have found and took interest to are quite messy but this is good because I think it will be appropriate and suitable for the genre of my magazine.

My Magazine Planning (Outfits):

Throughout my magazine I am going to have three models with a range of different outfits.

Model 1-Outfit 1:
My first models is going to be wearing a denim bralet, a black high waisted skater skirt with her Nike Blazers.

Model 1-Outfit 2:
The second outfit for my first model is going to be a pair of high waisted disco pants with a black bralet. In some of the pictures over her outfit she will be wearing a denim waist jacket and maybe some glasses. Again i think with this outfit my model will be wearing white Nike Air Max 90's but not 100% certain.

Model 2-Outfit 1:
Not completely sure as to what my second model is going to wear yet but this is an idea. High waisted denim shorts with patterned tights underneath, baggy Obey top (tucked in) underneath a camo jacket and Air Max 90's or Creepers? Although not 100% certain at the moment.

Model 2-Outfit 2:
The second outfit for my second model is going to be an Adidas original T-Shirt with some funky flowered patterned tights with a vintage 90's retro Nike jacket and a beenie. Similar to model 1 she will be wearing Nike air max 1's.

Model 3-Outfit 1:
Again not 100% sure on what my third model is going to wear but this is another one of my ideas. She maybe wearing a longer GEEK top over some funky tights, with a denim jacket and some biker boots but this might change.

Model 3-Outift 2:
My third models second outfit is going to be a pair of skinny jeans, a bell top and a blazer. on her feet i would like her to wear some high wedges. This outfit continues with the urban look but also brings a sophisticated feel.

Jewellery:
Because my magazine is a R'n'B and Hip Hop magazine I have chosen for my models to wear gold jewellery. I decided this because personally I think gold looks more 'blingy' and is what most Hip hop and R'n'B artists are likely to wear. I have include some gold fashion jewellery in the selection i have chosen as it makes it mixes the selection up a little.

When I was looking for images of jewellery that I though would look suitable on my models I found a image of a women dressed along the same kind of lines of my models and got the image as a style guide.
My Magazine Planning (Styles for Models):

I have found some images of artists that have been an inspired me and gave me ideas for models. These artists have given me inspiration because their styles are unique and stand out.

My Magazine Planning (Rough draft for the layout of my Double Page Spread):

Here is the layout of the double page spread in my magazine. Again, just like with my other two page layouts I still need to apply my colour scheme, picture and think of my title and story.

My Magazine Planning (Rough draft for the layout of my Contents Page):

This is the rough idea for the layout of my contents page. Again just like the draft for my front cover I need to decide how I am going to apply my colour scheme. Also need to decide on other feature like the competition I am thinking of advertising in the top right hand corner (not 100% certain on that idea though) and what concert/gig dates to include at the bottom.

My Magazine Planning (Rough draft for the layout of my Front Cover):

This is just a rough idea as what the layout of the front cover of my magazine is going to look like. I'm yet to decide what story's will feature on the front cover, how I am going to apply my colour scheme, my title and what my top story is going to be.
My Magazine Planning (Fonts):

TEXT/TEXT/TEXT/TEXT
Lucida Sans Typewriter
I like this font style because I think it is quite basic and easy to read. Also I think it would be appropriate to my magazine as I want it to have quite a modern feel to it and I think this text does that.

TEXT/TEXT
Impact
I also like this because of the boldness and I think that would be suitable to the genre of my magazine. Personally I think this will look good as headings but not as good in normal text as it is quite bold.

 TEXT/TEXT/TEXT/TEXT
Century Gothic
This is my favorite font style and the oner I am going to use because it is basic, modern, and easy to read and looks good both in bold (For headings) and regular (For normal text). I am most likely going to use this font style in my magazine.

TEXT/TEXT
Rockwell Extra Bold
This one is similar to the font ‘Impact’ but slightly bolder and same as ‘Impact’ I’m not to keen on the boldness for just the normal text I will have on my magazine.

TEXT/TEXT/TEXT/TEXT
Bookman Old Style
This font style is my second favorite and it was out of this one and ‘Century Gothic’ to choose for my magazine. The reason prefer ‘Century Gothic’ is because it is a bit more stylish/modern which I think is quite key for a music magazine today.

My Magazine Planning (Colours):

I have chosen the colour schemes for my magazine and I have chose to have Grey, Black, White and Blue. I have chosen these four colours as I felt they worked well together and will look appropriate on my R'n'B and HipHop magazine. I am going to follow these colours throughout the pages of my magazine and maybe adding in a splash of different colour (Red, Yellow, Purple or Green... etc) on each page.

Thursday 17 January 2013

Here is a double page spread from XXL magazine:
  • As usual there is a A4 page for a picture then the opposing page including the story
  •  Picture is of two Rap/Hip hop artists that are featured in the story
  • The heading for this story is long and takes up a a majority of the page
  • It is also bold and large like the others
  • The heading is actually a tweet from star 50 cent (on left of left page)
  • Font of text on this double page spread is basic and easy to read along with the title
  • Colours on this page are black and white appropriate to the colour scheme of black, white and red
Here is a double page spread from Billboard magazine:
  • Following the same type of layout as Kerrang's double page spread, Billboard's has the A4 page for a picture of the artist featured in the story on the opposing A4 page
  • Also following the same layout the heading for this story is big and bold with a basic font
  • Also sticks to the house style of Billboard magazine as it has the basic colour (black, white, grey) then has the odd splash of colour to the page (e.g. blue, yellow, green, red-likewise in the main title on the front cover)
  • The font the story is in is quite small but is a basic and easy to read with sub-headings in the same font but made bold

Here is a double page spread from Kerrang magazine:
  • This double page spread has a A4 page taken up for the picture and a page with the story
  • The heading for this story is very big and bold with a basic font
  • The smaller text telling the story is of two colours, the subheadings being bolder and white and the main text being black
  • In the main heading there is a rhetorical question "Do I ever have a casual friday?" because of this quote and the picture linking together shows the audience that the story is going to be about him and his and his weekends or his social life
  • The man in the picture looks appriopiate for this type of magazine(Rock)

Wednesday 9 January 2013

Here is the contents page to Billboard magazine:
  • Billboards contents page is different to others I have analysed because it contains a fair bit more of writing
  • It follows the house style of the magazine as it has the blue, red and yellow, the colours that are in the title of the magazine
  • The contents list on this page is again down the left hand side of the page
  • On the right had side of the page there is a lot of writing including top 40 songs and some in sight on what stories are to be included
  • There is one main picture on this contents page just like the others i have looked at although in contrast to the other pages there are three more above the main one(all of artist that are featured in the magazine)

Monday 7 January 2013

Here is the contents page of Vibe magazine:

  • This contents page is different to the XXL contents page as this one has a coloured background and only consists of two colours
  • Again the picture is the main focus on page the same as the other contents page and front covers
  • Also the heading is again big and bold just like the other contents pages and front covers
  • In contrast to XXL's contents page the magazine content is listed on the left had side of the page and is not numbered
  • The font of the magazine content is the same as heading font just smaller and each listing has a sub-heading that is bold
  • The main heading of the listing its in italics and bold
  • The white writing stands out on the red background and draws in the audience's eye
  • Branding on this contents pages is in the top left but is still included
Here is the contents page of XXL magazine:
  • This contents page of XXL magazine is quite plain and bold but does draw the audience eye
  • The main text including the content of the magazine is on the right of the page, listed and also numbered
  • The font of the listed text is in italics
  • Contrasting with the font of heading and sub-heading which is bold and basic
  • The picture is again the main focus on the page and is clearly linking to what is going to be included in the magazine
  • This contents page has a bold black heading and a white sub-heading on a black banner
  • The sub-heading is linking with the picture on the page and again gives some insight to what the story on B.O.B is going to be about
  • The colours on this contents page are also plain with just the black and white
  • There is the magazine logo in the bottom right hand corner of the page (banding)
  • The date at the bottom centre of the page
Here is the front cover of a Kerrang Magazine:

Kerrang! is a UK-based magazine devoted to rock music published by Bauer Media Group. It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the Sounds newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chore on an electric guitar, Kerrang! was initially devoted to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and the rise of hard rock acts. In the early 2000s it became the best-selling British music newspaper.

  • Kerrang has more of a busier front page compared to the two other magazines and this fits with its genre of 'rock'
  • This front cover has a two red banners, one at the top and one at the bottom both with bold white writting
  • There is also a white banner underneathe the title which draws attention to the bold black title of the magazine
  • The main feature of this magazine is 'Biffy Clyro' the main picture on the front cover is him and his name is written across the middle of the magazine
  • The colours on this front cover are black, white and red. These three colours are working well together as the white wrtitting is standing out becuase it is contrasting with the black and red
  • There is lots of advertising on the front of this magazine more so than insights to what is inside like the other magazines
  • At the top on the red banner there is an advert advertising a 'Download Ticket'
  • Also there are adverts for 'FREE' posters within the magazine
Here is a front cover of a Billboard magazine:

Billboard is an international news magazine devoted to music and the music industry, and is one of the oldest trade magazines in the world. It maintains several internationally recognized music charts that track the most popular songs and albums in various categories on a weekly basis. The two most notable charts are the Billboard Hot 100, which ranks the top 100 songs regardless of genre and is based on digital sales, radio airplay, and internet streaming data; and the Billboard 200, the corresponding chart for album sales.
  • Again the picture of this magazines cover is the main feature
  • Big bold title-White, drawing in audiences eye to the white space
  • Blue background that is contrasting with the white writting
  • Becuase the genre of the magazine is female music, Beyonce is an appropiate female to have on the front cover as she is a big part of female music
  • The magazine is following its housestyle by have this red, blue, and yellow on the 'Billboard' like it does on all magazines
  • Again with this front cover there are the smaller subheadings giving the audience an insight as to what is in the magazine
